What Are Your Goals?

“Marketing Goals” tie into your overall business growth goals.  For example a business wants to grow at 10% or 20% in a given year.  Although this is an easy thing to say, the challenge comes when you need to create a path or road-map of how you are going to get there.

Business growth can fundamentally occur in only 3 ways:

  1. Gaining more prospects
  2. Increasing your sales closing ratio
  3. Getting existing customers to do more business with you

Excluding # 2, which is primarily the function of the sales department, the others can play an intricate role in business growth and can both be a part of your marketing goals.

So, once your strategy is developed, it plays out in the tactics that you employ. “Offers” and “Calls-to-Action” which are used in those tactics can take on a variety of types and for each one you will need to set marketing goals:  These can include:

  • Starting a conversation with a prospect by acquiring contact information
  • Having a prospect fill out a “Request for Quote”
  • Having a prospect fill out an “Order Form”
  • Getting existing customers to do more business with you
  • Increase awareness and engagement through branding

Each of these are sub-goals that need to be identified in order to support your overall business goals.
